Council Directive 75/440/EEC of 16 June 1975 concerning the quality required of surface water intended for the abstraction of drinking water in the Member States · European Union

This Directive may be waived: (a) in the case of floods or other natural disasters; In no case may the exceptions provided for in the first subparagraph disregard the requirements of public health protection. Where a Member State waives the provisions of this Directive, it shall forthwith notify the Commission thereof, stating its reasons and the periods anticipated.
