Council Directive 89/107/EEC of 21 December 1988 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States concerning food additives authorized for use in foodstuffs intended for human consumption · European Union

This Directive shall not apply to: processing aids (5): substances used in the protection of plants and plant products in conformity with Community rules relating to plant health; flavourings for use in foodstuffs, falling within the scope of Council Directive 88/388/EEC (6): substances added to foodstuffs as nutrients (for example minerals, trace elements or vitamins).
