Council Directive 90/675/EEC of 10 December 1990 laying down the principles governing the organization of veterinary checks on products entering the Community from third countries · European Union

Border inspection posts must be: ii(i) located in the vicinity of the point of entry into one of the territories referred to in Annex I; i(ii) designated and approved in accordance with paragraph 3; placed under the authority of an official veterinarian, who shall be effectively responsible for the checks. The official veterinariam may be assisted by specially trained auxiliary staff.
