5. Means of evacuation and escape

Council Directive 92/91/EEC of 3 November 1992 concerning the minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of workers in the mineral- extracting industries through drilling (eleventh individual Directive within the meaning of Article 16 (1) of Directive 89/391/EEC) · European Union

Workers must be trained in the appropriate actions to be taken in emergencies. Rescue equipment must be provided at readily accessible and appropriately sited places and kept ready for use. Where escape routes are difficult, and where irrespirable atmospheres are or may be present, self-contained escape apparatus must be provided for immediate use at the workstation.
