Council Directive 96/49/EC of 23 July 1996 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States with regard to the transport of dangerous goods by rail · European Union

Type C packages containing radioactive material in quantities exceeding either 3000 A1 or 100000 A2 whichever is the lower for special form radioactive material, or exceeding 3000 A2 for all other radioactive material, may be carried by air. Whilst Type C packages are not required for the carriage by rail of radioactive material in such quantities (Type B(U) or Type B(M) packages suffice), the following requirements are presented since such packages may also be carried by rail.
