Council Regulation (EC) No 1257/1999 of 17 May 1999 on support for rural development from the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF) and amending and repealing certain Regulations · European Union

Support for investment in agricultural holdings shall contribute to the improvement of agricultural incomes and of living, working and production conditions. Such investment shall pursue one or more of the following objectives: to reduce production costs, to improve and redeploy production, to increase quality, to preserve and improve the natural environment, hygiene conditions and animal welfare standards, to promote the diversification of farm activities.
