Directive 2000/54/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 September 2000 on the protection of workers from risks related to exposure to biological agents at work (seventh individual directive within the meaning of Article 16(1) of Directive 89/391/EEC) · European Union

Appropriate measures shall be taken in health and veterinary care facilities in order to protect the health and safety of the workers concerned. The measures to be taken shall include in particular: specifying appropriate decontamination and disinfection procedures, and implementing procedures enabling contaminated waste to be handled and disposed of without risk.
