Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 January 2002 laying down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety · European Union

The Authority shall search for, collect, collate, analyse and summarise relevant scientific and technical data in the fields within its mission. This shall involve in particular the collection of data relating to: food consumption and the exposure of individuals to risks related to the consumption of food; incidence and prevalence of biological risk; contaminants in food and feed; residues.
