1.
Where HPAI is suspected or confirmed in border inspection posts or means of transport, the competent authority shall ensure that, on the basis of a risk assessment, all poultry and other captive birds present in the border inspection post or in the means of transport are killed, slaughtered or placed in isolation away from poultry or other captive birds and kept under official supervision until the investigation is completed in accordance with the diagnostic manual. The competent authority shall apply the measures provided for in Article 7 as appropriate. The competent authority may authorise the movement of the poultry or other captive birds to another place where they are killed, slaughtered or placed into isolation. The competent authority may decide not to kill or slaughter those poultry or other captive birds present in the border inspection post that have not been in contact with the poultry or other captive birds suspected of being infected.
