Marine Strategy Framework Directive

Directive 2008/56/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 June 2008 establishing a framework for community action in the field of marine environmental policy (Marine Strategy Framework Directive) (Text with EEA relevance) · European Union

(45) This Directive respects the fundamental rights, and observes the principles, recognised by the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union OJ C 364, 18.12.2000, p. 1. , in particular Article 37 thereof which seeks to promote the integration into the policies of the Union of a high level of environmental protection and the improvement of environmental quality in accordance with the principle of sustainable development.
