Direct action shall be carried out by the establishments of the Joint Research Centre (hereinafter ‘JRC’) and shall in principle be entirely financed from the budget. It shall consist of: research programmes; exploratory research activities; scientific and technical support activities of an institutional nature. The JRC may participate in indirect actions under the conditions laid down in Article 183 of the Financial Regulation. The estimate of amount receivable, as referred to in Article 181(2) of the Financial Regulation shall be sent to the accounting officer for registration.
