(8) The ERC should replace and succeed the ERC established by Commission Decision 2007/134/EC Commission Decision 2007/134/EC of 2 February 2007 establishing the European Research Council (OJ L 57, 24.2.2007, p. 14). . It should operate according to the established principles of scientific excellence, autonomy, efficiency and transparency.
