Article 54

Council Decision 2013/755/EU of 25 November 2013 on the association of the overseas countries and territories with the European Union ( ‘Overseas Association Decision’ ) · European Union

1. Trade and trade-related cooperation under the association aims at enhancing the mutual supportiveness between trade and environmental policies and obligations. Trade and trade-related cooperation under the association shall take into account the principles of international environmental governance and multilateral environmental agreements. 2. The ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its Kyoto Protocol shall be pursued. Cooperation shall be based on the development of the future legally binding international climate change agreement involving mitigation commitments by all parties in accordance with the implementation of decisions emanating from the Conferences of the Parties of the UNFCCC. 3. Measures to implement multilateral environmental agreements shall not be applied in a manner that would constitute a means of arbitrary or unjustifiable discrimination between the partners or a disguised restriction of trade.
