(49) In order to enable the European Cooperative Society, established by Council Regulation (EC) No 1435/2003 Council Regulation (EC) No 1435/2003 of 22 July 2003 on the Statute for a European Cooperative Society (SCE) (OJ L 207, 18.8.2003, p. 1). , to provide insurance and reinsurance services, it is necessary to extend the list of permissible legal forms of insurance and reinsurance undertakings under Directive 2009/138/EC to include the European Cooperative Society.
