Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 July 2014 on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market and repealing Directive 1999/93/EC · European Union

The interoperability framework shall meet the following criteria: it aims to be technology neutral and does not discriminate between any specific national technical solutions for electronic identification within a Member State; it follows European and international standards, where possible; it facilitates the implementation of the principle of privacy by design; and it ensures that personal data is processed in accordance with Directive 95/46/EC.
