(9) In accordance with paragraph 4 of Commission Recommendation 2011/750/EU Commission Recommendation 2011/750/EU of 8 September 2011 on support for an EU-wide eCall service in electronic communication networks for the transmission of in-vehicle emergency calls based on 112 (‘eCalls’) (OJ L 303, 22.11.2011, p. 46). , Member States should ensure that mobile network operators implemented the mechanism to handle the ‘eCall discriminator’ in their networks by 31 December 2014. If the review referred to in paragraph 6 of that Recommendation concludes that the ‘eCall discriminator’ will not be implemented by 31 March 2016, the Commission should take appropriate action to ensure that mobile network operators implement the mechanism to handle the ‘eCall discriminator’.
