Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/288 of 28 February 2020 amending for the 311th time Council Regulation (EC) No 881/2002 imposing certain specific restrictive measures directed against certain persons and entities associated with the ISIL (Da'esh) and Al-Qaida organisations · European Union

In Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 881/2002 the following entries are added under the heading ‘Legal persons, groups and entities’: ‘Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) (alias: (a) Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant – West Africa (ISIL-WA); (b) Islamic State of Iraq and Syria – West Africa (ISIS-WA); (c) Islamic State of Iraq and Syria West Africa Province (ISISWAP); (d) Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – West Africa). Other information: Associated with the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (listed as Al-Qaida in Iraq). Formed in March 2015 by Abubakar Shekau. Splinter group of Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'Awati Wal-Jihad (Boko Haram). Committed terrorist attacks in Nigeria. Date of designation referred to in Article 7e(e): 23.02.2020.’ ‘Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) (alias: (a) Islamic State in Iraq and Syria – Greater Sahara (ISIS-GS); (b) Islamic State of Iraq and Syria – Greater Sahara (ISIS-GS); (c) Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant - Greater Sahara (ISIL-GS); (d) Islamic State of the Greater Sahel; (e) ISIS in the Greater Sahel; (f) ISIS in the Greater Sahara; (g) ISIS in the Islamic Sahel). Other information: Formed in May 2015 by Adnan Abu Walid al-Sahraoui. Associated with the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (listed as Al-Qaida in Iraq). Splinter group of Al-Mourabitoun. Committed terrorist attacks in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso. Date of designation referred to in Article 7e(e): 23.02.2020.’
