(35) Flights spanning 1 000 kilometers and less account for 6 to 9 % of total aviation CO2 emissions. The Commission should submit a report on measures to promote a modal shift towards alternative, more sustainable modes of transport, pending technological breakthroughs and availability of zero-emission aviation fuels and aircraft.
