(5) In line with Council Decision (EU) 2018/2027 (8), Member States notified the ICAO Secretariat of differences between CORSIA and the EU ETS. The objective was to preserve the Union acquis and future policy prerogatives, as well as the Union level of climate ambition and the exclusive roles of the European Parliament and Council in deciding the contents of Union law. Following the adoption of this Directive, the notification of differences between CORSIA and the EU ETS to the ICAO Secretariat should be updated by a second notification of differences consistent with Union law to reflect the revisions made to Directive 2003/87/EC.
