Regulation (EU) 2023/2411 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 October 2023 on the protection of geographical indications for craft and industrial products and amending Regulations (EU) 2017/1001 and (EU) 2019/1753 (Text with EEA relevance) · European Union

1. As an alternative to the procedure set out in Article 51, Member States may provide for the verification of compliance of the product with the corresponding product specification by means of controls, carried out before and after the product has been placed on the market, by: one or more competent authorities referred to in Article 50(1); or one or more product certification bodies or natural persons to which control tasks have been delegated in accordance with Article 55.
