Article 7 — Conditions for access to information by asset recovery offices

1. Information referred to in Article 6 shall be accessed on a case-by-case basis, only where necessary and proportionate for the performance of the tasks pursuant to Article 5 and by staff specifically designated and authorised to access such information. 2. Member States shall ensure that staff of the asset recovery offices comply with the rules on confidentiality and professional secrecy as provided for under applicable national law as well as the Union data protection acquis. Member States shall ensure that staff of asset recovery offices have the necessary specialised skills and abilities to perform their roles effectively. 3. Member States shall ensure that appropriate technical and organisational measures are in place to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk of processing data in order for asset recovery offices to access and search the information referred to in Article 6.
