| 3. | The following pieces of Union legislation, which set out requirements for specific waste streams, are also relevant for the purpose of ensuring environmentally sound management of waste: (a) European Parliament and Council Directive 94/62/EC of 20 December 1994 on packaging and packaging waste; (b) Council Directive 96/59/EC of 16 September 1996 on the disposal of polychlorinated biphenyls and polychlorinated terphenyls; (c) Directive 2000/53/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 September 2000 on end-of-life vehicles; (d) Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2023 concerning batteries and waste batteries, amending Directive 2008/98/EC and Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 and repealing Directive 2006/66/EC; (e) Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012 on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE); (f) Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 on persistent organic pollutants.
