Recital 79

(79) In order to ensure that ecodesign requirements achieve their intended effects, this Regulation should set out comprehensive and overarching provisions which are applicable to all products covered by ecodesign requirements and prohibit the circumvention of such requirements. Therefore, any practice leading to an unjustified alteration of the product’s performance during compliance testing, or within a short period after putting the product into service, leading to a declared performance that misrepresents the product’s actual performance while in use should be prohibited.
