Recital 26
(26) Directive 2000/53/EC provides exemptions to the restrictions on the use of lead and cadmium in batteries used in vehicles, which are taken over by this Regulation. However, the use of substances in batteries is comprehensively regulated in Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 of the European Parliament and of the Council (9). Therefore, such substances should be addressed in, and eventually their restrictions and related exemptions transferred, as appropriate, to that Regulation by means of an amending provision set out in this Regulation.
