(140) In 2012, the instruments set out in Annex IX of the Water Framework Directive have been repealed by the Environmental Quality Standards Directive, referred to in footnote 143. The environmental quality standards referred to in those instruments have been replaced by standards in the Environmental Quality Standards Directive.
