Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 · United Kingdom
No royalty is payable in respect of— anything which immediately before copyright in the work expired on 31st December 1987 could lawfully have been done without the licence, or further licence, of the copyright owner at that time; or anything which if copyright still subsisted in the work could, by virtue of any provision of Chapter III of Part I of this Act (acts permitted notwithstanding copyright), be done without infringing copyright.
