Section 149(6)

Where any dog seized under this section has been detained for seven clear days after the seizure or, where a notice has been served under subsection (4) above, the service of the notice and the owner has not claimed the dog and paid the amounts due under subsection (5) above the officer may dispose of the dog— but no dog seized under this section shall be sold or given for the purposes of vivisection. by selling it or giving it to a person who will, in his opinion, care properly for the dog; by selling it or giving it to an establishment for the reception of stray dogs; or by destroying it in a manner to cause as little pain as possible;
