Schedule 4, Part I, paragraph 1(2)

The first members of a local flood defence committee appointed by or on behalf of any one or more constituent councils— shall come into office on the day on which the committee comes into existence or, in the case of a member who is for any reason appointed after that day, on the day on which the appointment is made; and subject to the following provisions of this Schedule, shall hold office until the end of May in such year as may be specified for the purposes of this paragraph in the scheme establishing the committee.
