In subsection (4)(a), “politically exposed person” means a person who is— an individual who is, or has been, entrusted with prominent public functions by an international organisation or by a State other than the United Kingdom or another EEA State, the United Kingdom, or an EEA state, a family member of a person within paragraph (a), known to be a close associate of a person within that paragraph, or otherwise connected with a person within that paragraph.
