Schedule 7, paragraph 2
The Secretary of State shall pay the registrar such remuneration, and such travelling and other allowances, as the Secretary of State may determine. The Secretary of State shall— pay such pension, allowances or gratuities as he may determine to or in respect of a person who is or has been the registrar, or make such payments as he may determine towards provision for the payment of a pension, allowances or gratuities to or in respect of such a person. If, when a person ceases to be the registrar, the Secretary of State determines that there are special circumstances which make it right that the person should receive compensation, the Secretary of State may pay to the person by way of compensation a sum of such amount as he may determine.
