For the purposes of subsection (2) and section 7 of the Interpretation Act 1978 (c. 30) (service of documents by post) as it applies in relation to that subsection, the proper address of a person is— in the case of a firm incorporated or formed in the United Kingdom, its registered or principal office; in the case of a firm incorporated or formed outside the United Kingdom— if it has a place of business in the United Kingdom, its principal office in the United Kingdom, or if it does not have a place of business in the United Kingdom, its registered or principal office; in the case of an individual, his last known address.
