The relevant person must ensure that specialised technical advice and assistance is promptly made available to persons who— are not normally involved in operations subject to radiation protection requirements, and suspect the presence of an orphan source. The relevant person must ensure that the primary aim of such advice and assistance is— the safety of the source, and protecting the public and workers from radiation. The relevant person means— in relation to the protection of workers, the Secretary of State; in relation to the protection of the public (other than workers)— in England, the Secretary of State; in Wales, the Welsh Ministers.
