Section 13(5)

For groundwater bodies, the objectives are to— prevent deterioration of the status of each body of groundwater; prevent or limit the input of pollutants into groundwater; protect, enhance and restore each body of groundwater, and ensure a balance between abstraction and recharge of groundwater, with the aim of achieving good groundwater chemical status and good groundwater quantitative status, if not already achieved, by 22nd December 2021; reverse any significant and sustained upward trend in the concentration of any pollutant resulting from the impact of human activity in order to progressively reduce pollution of groundwater.
