Calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide are used in similar industries and applications: — Use as raw material in the preparation of chlorinated lime, bleaching powder, and calcium salts. Also used as a binding agent for the manufacture of several products such as cement, and other building and paving materials. — Used for water treatment and for the treatment of waste effluents from different industries. — Used as a scrubbing and neutralizing agents in the chemical and petrochemical industry. — Large volumes of calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide are generated in combustion processes and can be found in the leftover ash. — Involved in different operations in the following industries: iron and steel manufacturing (as well as other metals), ammonia synthesis, metal ores refining, manufacture of fine chemicals (e.g. pharmaceuticals, lubricants), pulp and paper industry, leather manufacturing, etc.
