Section 118

The Secretary of State may by order substitute for the term specified in any of the following provisions— such shorter term as he thinks fit. section 3(3), section 4(1)(c)(i) and (2)(b), section 15(3)(a)(ii), section 27(2)(b)(i), section 80(1)(b)(i), paragraph 1 of Schedule 1, paragraphs 4(1), 5(1) and 6(1) of Schedule 2, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 3, An order under this section may contain such transitional provision as the Secretary of State thinks fit. Before making an order under this section, the Secretary of State must consult such persons as he considers appropriate.
