An “authorised deposit-taker” for these purposes is a person who has permission under Part 4A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 to accept deposits, other than— a credit union; a friendly society; a person who has such permission only in the course of effecting or carrying out contracts of insurance in accordance with that permission.
