A person (“P”) is an associate of an individual if— P is the spouse or civil partner of the individual; P is a relative of the individual; P is a relative of the individual’s spouse or civil partner; P is the spouse or civil partner of a relative of the individual; P is a spouse or civil partner of a relative of the individual’s spouse or civil partner; P lives in the same household as the individual otherwise than merely because P, or the individual, is the other’s employer, tenant, lodger or boarder; P is the relative of a person who is an associate of the individual by virtue of paragraph (f); P has at some time in the past fallen within any of paragraphs (a) to (g); P is in partnership with the individual; the individual is an associate of an individual with whom P is in partnership.
