Section 311(1)

The CMA may require an undertaking involved in, or connected with, the distribution, supply or retail of motor fuel (“U”) to give specified information to it where it considers that the information would assist the CMA in— assessing competition in the United Kingdom in connection with the retail of motor fuel; publishing information about competition in the United Kingdom in connection with the retail of motor fuel; making proposals, or giving information or advice, to the Secretary of State about the need for, or the potential for, action to be taken (whether by the Secretary of State or another person) and what that action should be for the purposes of— increasing competition in the United Kingdom in connection with the retail of motor fuel; benefiting consumers of motor fuel; assessing the effectiveness of any action taken as a result of proposals made, or information or advice given, under paragraph (c).
